Guy Laroche vintage brown wool skirt with hand-tacked leather mosaic appliqué FR 40

Guy Laroche opened his Paris house in 1957 and became known for refined, wearable couture with a strong sense of craft. This vintage skirt shows that craft in an unusual, tactile way. Hundreds of small chocolate brown leather pieces are hand-tacked onto a wool base in swirling mosaic patterns, each one fixed with small cross stitches. The raw-cut edges of the leather and the wool visible between the pieces are part of the design, not wear. The cut is straight and falls just below the knee, with a side zip, a full lining and inner hanger loops. Made in France.
